Reminder – NMS cap increased in September 2021

As part of the changes to the NMS service agreed as part of the Year 3 5-year CPCF deal, the cap on the number of NMS which can be provided increased from 0.5 percent to 1 percent of monthly prescription volume and additional bandings were included.

The increase is in addition to a number of changes implemented from September 2021, click here to view all changes on the PSNC website.

Contractors are also reminded that NMS is part of the gateway criterion for PQS 2021/22. The contractor must have claimed payments for the completion of a minimum of 20 NMS between 1st April 2021 and 5th January 2022. As gateway criterion, this must be complete for a contractor to claim for PQS – NHSBSA has published the latest NMS data for contractors to review.

Final Reminder – BHR PNA Survey

The deadline for submission has been extended to Monday 13th December to allow pharmacies to complete if they have not already done so.

It is mandatory for pharmacies to complete this questionnaire, it is a statutory duty requiring 100% completion rate from all pharmacies. If you have not yet completed, please read through the email below and complete the questionnaire as soon as possible:

BHR PNA Pharmacy Contractor Questionnaire 2021

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments (PNAs) are used to determine market entry – decisions regarding new contracts and movements of existing pharmacies – in your borough. The PNA has been a statutory duty for the local Health and Wellbeing Boards since 1st April 2014.

The London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge have commissioned Healthy Dialogues to produce the PNA for 2022-2025. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, community pharmacy has shown resilience, remained open, and continued to serve its communities. As well as helping us to gain a more accurate understanding of current service provision, participating in this process will give you the opportunity to inform plans for future provision of services in these boroughs.

As this is a statutory duty, we require 100% completion rate, and it is mandatory for pharmacies to complete this questionnaire as accurately as possible and return it by Monday 6th December 2021.

The questionnaire has been agreed with the LPC and should take around 20 minutes to complete. You can complete it online or return a copy to us by post or email (details at the end of this message).

Please access the questionnaire by following this link:

In addition, we are very keen to use this opportunity to learn more about your experience of the impact that COVID-19 and changes to the wider health and social care landscape has had on community pharmacy services. If you are happy to spare 15-20 minutes of your time to speak with us and expand on your questionnaire response, please email us on and we will get in touch to arrange a chat at a time that is convenient to you.

If you have any queries about the questionnaire, please contact us on the email above or you can also contact Rebecca Dew at

We would like to thank you in advance for your support with this process.
