COVID-19 – Individual risk assessments surveys during July 2020
NHSE&I announced the need for NHS Providers to undertake staff risk assessments, this includes Community Pharmacy. Risk assessments for all pharmacy staff must completed by 24th July 2020, with online submissions made at BOTH of the upcoming declaration windows.
Online declaration will be done via a snap survey, the same one will be used for both windows. The first declaration window is already open.
- First window: 9am on Thursday 9th July 2020 until midnight on Friday 17th July 2020.
- Second window: 9am on Friday 24th July 2020 until midnight on Friday 31st July 2020.
Enjoy Summer Safely PHE Campaign
Public Health England have launced a new campaign, Enjoy Summer Safely. The aim of this campaign is to encourage the public to begin to return to normal spending habits, but doing so safely in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The issues in delivering face to face interventions post COVID means that the delivery of the flu vaccination service will slightly change. In light of this, the NEL LPC has devised a survey to better understand the consequences of these changes in Community Pharmacy.

Report quota restrictions to PSNC
Pharmacies can now report supply issues linked to drug quota restrictions directly to PSNC using their new online form.
Reporting directly to PSNC supports their representation of the issues pharmacies are experiencing to DHSC, the Healthcare Distribution Association (HDA) and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).

PSNC are conducing a survey for Independent pharmacy owners to help to understand the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on your business.

Registration renewal for pharmacy professionals
The following relaxation on pharmacy professionals with an upcoming registration renewal deadline has been announced in a recent NHSE&I Primary Care Bulletin.
The General Pharmaceutical Council has announced that pharmacy professionals with a registration renewal deadline between 1 September and 31 December 2020 will not be required to submit revalidation records when renewing their registration, in recognition of the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This relaxation already applied to professionals with a renewal deadline between 20 March and 31 August 2020. Instead, pharmacy professionals should submit a reflective account when renewing their registrations. For more information please see the GPhC website.
Changes to NMS knowledge and skills requirements
Following changes to the NMS knowledge and skills requirements, a pharmacist providing the NMS will no longer have to have an MUR certificate.
An updated NMS self-assessment form has been published to reflect this change. This only needs to be completed by pharmacists who have not previously completed the former version of the self-assessment form.
