Dependence on prescription medicines linked to deprivation | GOV.UK

Public Health England has published an evidence review of dependence and withdrawal problems associated with five commonly prescribed classes of medicines in England. 

The review finds evidence that addiction increases with deprivation of makes recommendations for better monitoring, treatment and support for patients.

HIV Prevention Programme Update

London Councils has made a short promotional film about the London HIV Prevention Programme:

The film was commissioned to raise awareness of the boroughs’ role in HIV prevention and to celebrate the progress being made in London. The film has been launched this week so it coincided with London hosting a major international conference on HIV and only a week after new national statistics show London is continuing to lead the way in reducing HIV.

Funded Places- Mary Seacole Event

The NHS Leadership Academy have released further cohorts for the popular Mary Seacole Leadership programme, which is open to community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Places on the programme are fully funded via the Pharmacy Integration Fund.

These new cohorts are open to the wider healthcare workforce, in addition to those in pharmacy, bringing additional advantages of learning in a multi-professional environment which can broaden participants scope in terms of understanding the wider NHS.

There are three new London cohorts shown in the table below, which are now open for applications:

Pharmacists Donation to GOSH

During a recent event, as part of an exercise, pharmacists were asked to donate their spare change to a good cause.

The chosen cause was Great Ormond Street Hospital, in which a total of £30 was donated.

Thank you to everyone who attended for their generosity.
