Mandatory Campaign Begins

The Mandatory Pharmacy Campaign, Children’s Oral Health, begins on Monday 13th May.

Following the letter from NHSE, you should have received an email with the relevant documents for use throughout the campaign.

There is a delay with the branded campaign support materials, they should reach you by the 17th May. To begin the campaign, you may wish to use the PHE materials for now.

Admissions to NHS hospitals, where obesity was recorded as either a primary or secondary diagnosis, increased by 15% (94,000) on 2016/17.

The latest figures are in new data from NHS Digital on hospital admissions, prescription items, disease prevalence, physical activity and diet.

Pre-registration Pharmacist Recruitment Event

Health Education England for London and the South East are once again organising a recruitment event for 2019. It is open to all 2020-2021 pre-reg intake students and those pharmacy employers who have registered to recruit via the National Pre-registration Pharmacist Recruitment Scheme, sometimes known as the ORIEL system.

The LPCs in the area are helping to plan this recruitment event, by identifying Community Pharmacies that wish to attend and promote their pharmacy to pre-regs at this event. This year pharmacies have 2 options: being able to exhibit via a stand; or speak and engage with students in a world café environment.

High cost drugs and devices NHS England

Some high cost drugs and devices are paid for in addition to the national price for the related service.

In order to keep the list of high cost drugs and devices as up to date as possible, there must be regular changes to the lists, both additions and removals.

NHSE are inviting nominations for additions to, and removals from, the high cost drugs and devices lists for the next national tariff, due to come into effect in April 2020.

Medicine Administration for Carers – Opportunity for Pharmacies from future learn

FutureLearn (in association with UEA) are offering a free online course for medicine administration in care homes. It can be found here:

This course is primarily for care workers in residential care homes and nursing home services in the UK but has also been recommended for pharmacy staff who provide a service to care homes.
