NHS England’s Bruce Warner blames low training uptake for lack of pharmacy investment

Please see the following article, published 18th January by Isabel Finch in the Chemist and Druggist that states the following:

“England’s deputy chief pharmaceutical officer has highlighted the “mixed” uptake of pharmacy training programmes as a potential “barrier” to greater investment in the sector.”

NEL Antimicrobial formulary

The LPC has received the following from NELFT. This relates to Nitrofurantoin MR 100MG BD, and not the normal 100mg or 50mg formulations.

Locally, a prescriber had to amend a prescription to the normal formulation to urgently start antibiotics for a UTI because the community pharmacist had no stock of the MR.

Please be reminded tjay Community pharmacies should not be keeping any or only small amounts of the non MR formulations as these should not be prescribed locally according to formulary

End of Pilot MenACWY in Pharmacy

Dear Colleagues,

The MenACWY pilot in community pharmacies came to an end at the end of December 2018, please ensure any vaccinations given since are claimed by the end of this month.
